Sport
Sport at Judd
Sports are an integral part of the Judd school’s ethos and is an ever developing area.
Alongside the PE and Games curriculum, throughout each term in school there is a wide variety of sports available to students, of which many have a reputation regionally and nationally for success. This is supplemented with daily clubs and practices available to students at lunch times and after school. We also compete in regular Saturday fixtures against nearby schools in Rugby, Football and Cricket along as well as entry to county and national competitions throughout the year.
Our aim for elite performance is underpinned by mass participation, which allows us to regularly field up A-F (and sometimes beyond) level teams in the lower years to play competitive sport.
The main sports available throughout each term are as follows:
Autumn Term: Rugby, Cross Country
Spring Term: Football, Rugby VIIs
Summer Term: Cricket, Athletics
We also have regular competitive fixtures for our senior girls in netball and rugby, as well as providing badminton, basketball and tennis fixtures. For any information regarding specific sports please see the links provided.

Sports Facilities
Our sports facilities include a sports hall, gymnasium and fitness room in the sports centre, with a lower field, all-weather pitch, multi-usage games area and a new cricket net facility (with space for 10 cricket nets) all on-site. Our sports hall hosts 4 cricket nets, a full size basketball court, 4 badminton courts and space for volleyball matches. Our fitness room includes free-weights, 4 rowing machines, 5 bikes, 2 running machines.
Alongside this we also have the Vizards playing fields just 900m away from the school site, which includes a 3G rugby pitch as well as space for 5 full size grass rugby pitches in the autumn term. This becomes 4 full size football pitches in the spring term and we also have 2 grass cricket squares and an additional astroturf wicket for fixtures.
Please find directions below to Vizards.
First Aid
In all sports, we understand that safety is the top priority. With this in mind, all Games and PE staff are first aid trained through the Red Cross.
We follow AfPE’s PESSPA guidance in all sports which are covered.
During our Saturday rugby fixtures we are able to provide medical cover at Vizards for injuries that can occur.
Our concussion protocol follows UK government guidelines (UK Concussion Guidelines for Grassroots Non-Elite Sport) with graded return to sport over a 21 day period from the incident occurring.
