Girls Rugby
Girls' rugby is open to students in both Year 12 and Year 13, running during the Christmas and Spring terms. We play full-contact rugby in both 15-a-side fixtures against regional schools and in 7s tournaments, including the Kent 7s and the prestigious Rosslyn Park National 7s.
Most players join with little or no prior experience, so coaching focusses on building core rugby skills - from tackling and contact technique to passing, running, and kicking. Training takes place during Wednesday games afternoons (2pm–3:45pm) and in Monday after-school sessions (4pm–5pm).
No specialist kit is required to start - new players just need to turn up in their regular sports kit. A gumshield is recommended if you already own one, though we also have new, unused spares available as required. Students don’t need to buy rugby boots immediately, so they can try the sport first without making any financial commitment, with boots only being definitively required from mid-late October onwards.
Girls’ rugby at Judd is not just about learning a new sport - it’s about building confidence, resilience, and friendships that last well beyond school. Whether you're a seasoned player or completely new to the game, you'll be welcomed into a supportive and spirited team environment.
