Anthea Bell Prize for young translators - French

We were delighted to take part once again in the Anthea Bell Prize for Young Translators – now for the fifth year in a row! Organised by The Queen’s College, University of Oxford, this prestigious national competition invites students to engage with translation in a creative and thoughtful way.

All students in the French department participated, working hard to translate a French text into English. More than just a literal translation, the challenge lies in capturing the tone, level, register, and even the rhymes of the original – a true test of both language skill and creativity.

We were impressed by the originality and effort shown across the board. Congratulations to all our students for their fantastic work!
