U15 Kent County Champions

Our U15 cricket team played the final of the U15 Kent T20 Cup vs Kent College on Tuesday 17th June at Linton Park Cricket Club.

After losing the toss on a warm afternoon under clear skies, the U15 team bowled first. With one side of the boundary being just past the 30 yard circle and the other side of similar length to some professional cricket grounds, the boys stuck to their plans. Opening the bowling with Harry and Seb followed by Hugo and Aleeyan, they restricted Kent College early on. At the drinks break in the first innings - after the first wicket was taken with a great grab by Pedri on the boundary - Kent College were at 56-1 off 9.1 overs. With just over 10 overs left, the potential of a late flourish with the bat meant the team had to rotate their bowlers so the batters couldn't settle. The fielding display meant that Kent College were only able to extract 9 boundaries in their completed innings. Further wickets from Campbell, Aleeyan and Mayank saw Kent College fall to 87-4 off 15 overs. Hugo then followed up with 2 wickets in an over and with Campbell's spell ending with a run out (Aleeyan's throw to Eddie) and another catch on the edge of the ring, Kent College completed their innings at 111-9 off 20 overs.

In reply with the bat, Amrit and Agi walked to the crease hoping to make the most of the left- and right-handed partnership to disrupt the bowlers rhythm with the varying boundary length. With the first over leaking 12 runs with a couple of boundaries, we were off to a great start. None of the bowlers were able to settle as both Amrit and Agi maneuvered the field with ease and ran well between the wickets. A late flurry of boundaries saw Amrit finish on 60* off 36 balls and Agi 50* off 35 balls as we reached 115-0 after just 12.5 overs.

An outstanding display on the field in all aspects meant that Judd were crowned Kent Cup Champions and earn a place in the ESCA National T20 competition with their first match against Dulwich college due to take place on Friday 20th June.

Really well done to the boys and thank you to Mr Richardson for his hard work and effort with the students so far this season.
