German Anthea Bell Translation Competition Prize-Giving Ceremony

The Anthea Bell competition is a translation competition for many languages including French and German. Students participating were given a passage to translate as fluently as possible into English. To assist them, a glossary with key words were given and also the use of devices in older years.

For each class, our German teachers selected the best translations and they were sent to Oxford University for further judgement. Every class winner received an award!

On the 11th July, we and other winners were invited to the school library to celebrate our results that had come from Oxford. We were given certificates and various sweets like Haribo. Finally, we took a group photo and shouted “Käse”, which is “cheese” in German! We have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the competition.
