Bad Weather

In the event of prolonged bad weather, or other difficulties, we shall advise parents if the school is closing via the "latest news" page of this website and email.

We may also use Radio Kent (96.7, 104.2 & 97.6 fm): http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/kent/hi/

Planned Closure:

If weather is severe, an assessment will be made early in the morning and reported in the Latest News section of this website and/or email, by 7am. We will always endeavour to remain open where possible.

Early closure:

Should the weather deteriorate during the day, we may draw an early close to lessons and allow students who can safely travel home early to do so. We would similarly inform you via the website and/or email. We will need to evidence your consent, typically via their phone, for them to leave school early.

An open school:

Should travel be impossible from your own location, we would ask you to inform the school through the absence email. We accept that the judgement of safe journey will be different in each surrounding location. When the school remains open despite deteriorating weather in the day, if parents feel it is absolutely necessary to collect children because of safety concerns, the school Reception should be contacted prior to collection. Students should not contact home themselves - only if we feel we have to close the school early should students take the initiative in ringing home and asking to be collected - this will be verifiable on the school website.

Parents/carers should inform the school (by phone or e-mail absence@judd.kent.sch.uk) if their child is absent due to severe conditions making the journey unsafe.
