Volunteering in Africa

On the 26th July Matthew M (Y9) will be travelling solo to Ghana to complete a two-week volunteering programme 'Children of Africa.' Once he goes through the departure gate at Heathrow he is on his own, until he meets with the programme organisers in Ghana. Matthew has worked to raise the money to pay for the trip for the past year and a half. He will be credited 40 hours of volunteering hours for community service. The programme is run by GLA Global Leadership Adventures. Global Leadership Adventures – Homepage - GLA.
The link for the programme is Ghana: Children of Africa - GLA
On GLA’s Ghana: Children of Africa™ program you will:
-
- Develop educational resources that will be used to tutor children at a local primary school
- Help build and refurbish school facilities
- Discuss current social issues facing Ghana’s educational access
- Lesson plan and teach a range of lessons
We are really proud of you, Matthew, and we cannot wait to hear all about your time in Africa when you get back.
